The story behind the image:

I waited at this corner until the daylight was just right. The three dimensional Pureeka! sign was a delightful addition to its otherwise unattractive base.

Oddly, the sign's richly beautiful colors took on a life of their own, complimenting those of its neighboring edifices. I painted with Ferrari red urethanes to achieve an iridescent effect on the neon cloth banners below.

This was one of several works I painted based on the immediate area.
