The story behind the image:

Termed the death seat when an outside rider takes a chance to pass, this Saratoga jockey made the life-threatening attempt. It was exciting to watch, particularly in the rain. Standing alongside a few avid news photographers at the fence and on a wet track, I took what seemed to be hundreds of pictures that day. This piece was about energy, movement and balanced color composition.
